Organized to advance German-American relations, the Liederkranz of New York City is devoted to cultural and social exchange and the sponsorship of musical events. Its activities are dedicated to the support, development and preservation of culture in New York City.

The Liederkranz Foundation, Inc. was established in 1948 to sponsor musical events, particularly those devoted to vocal music and to provide financial support for young artists.

In no way restricted by its German origins, the Foundation sponsors a wide array of rental spaces, musical activities, including a prestigious vocal competition. The Foundation provides the resources to produce opera, dinner theater events, choral concerts and recitals throughout the year.
